The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the filing of more than 60 million unemployment claims across the country. As organizations begin to re-open or shift operations to safely accomplish their missions, organizations should evaluate the impact of these claims to their 2021 budget and beyond.
Arizona’s average State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) tax rates increased by over 70% after the Great Recession (2007-2009) and remained at this increased average for years after.
Arizona’s Department of Employment Security more in unemployment benefits since March 2020, than it paid during the entirety of the recent Great Recession.
