OANO’s Executive Director Appointed to First Nonprofit Board

Columbus – Executive Director of The Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO), Jennifer Eschbach, recently accepted a position to serve as a board member for First Nonprofit Unemployment Savings Program LLC., a national nonprofit company based in Chicago, assists nonprofit organizations with unemployment insurance solutions.

“OANO has had a preferred partnership with First Nonprofit Companies, the program manager for the First Nonprofit Unemployment Savings Program, LLC.  for more than a decade.  Some of our members have saved thousands of dollars through their self-insurance program. I’m looking forward to board service and expanding our partnership so Ohio nonprofits can continue to experience savings on their unemployment costs,” said Jennifer Eschbach.

Nonprofits can choose to cover their mandatory unemployment costs in one of two ways: Paying the State Unemployment Insurance Tax (SUTA) or through reimbursement financing (self-insurance). This financing method is a legal right available only to nonprofits to opt-out of paying SUTA and reimburse their state unemployment agency dollar-for-dollar for unemployment claims paid only to their former employees. Opting out of SUTA can save nonprofits money but this option does subject organizations to potential risks such as unexpected loss of funding or program closures that can lead to layoffs.

First Nonprofit Companies provides a variety of both safe and cost-saving solutions to paying SUTA and self-insurance.

Ms. Eschbach will join a seven-member board with representation from around the country.

OANO is a statewide membership association of 500 nonprofit organizations representing the breadth and diversity of Ohio’s charitable nonprofit sector. OANO’s mission is to provide leadership, education, and advocacy to enhance the ability of Ohio’s nonprofit organizations to serve their communities.

Life is certainly busy these days but having business partners like First Nonprofit has made some of the process hassle free. We have worked with this team for years. When we changed payroll systems, they outlined every step. I think this team is terrific and I know they get the job done! Thank you, Cruz, to all the team at FNP.

FNP has helped our agency to save thousands of dollars every year on our unemployment coverage. The service is phenomenal, and we are thankful to their team as our partner. My experience working with Marshall on the advocacy around UE for nonprofits was also a highlight as someone who teaches advocacy and lobbying for nonprofits. Really, your whole team is top shelf, so thank YOU!

FNP is a great resource for Daniel Kids. To have a TPA that we can count on to take point on not only managing our unemployment claims, but to support and guide any protest hearing, is invaluable. All the professional support staff we have worked with have been excellent, very knowledgeable and responsive. We are grateful for the help and support, thank you.

When I first began in my position at my organization, I hadn’t had experience working with a company like FNP. The staff was so patient and helpful in helping to explain the benefits of First Nonprofit. Anytime I reach out with a question I receive a quick, clear, and thorough response. I’m so thankful that we decided to partner with FNP. Their excellence in customer service, coupled with their variety of packages frees us up to truly serve our staff and community with a peace of mind knowing that our organization is protected against unanticipated unemployment insurance expenses.
