Meet the Staff: Megan Cauthorn

First Nonprofit Group (FNG) is excited to welcome Regional Sales Director Megan Cauthorn to our team! Working out of the Portland office, Megan will manage the State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) programs for the Western region, which includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Northern California.

Megan learned about the position through a friend and AmTrust representative who approached her and thought she would be an outstanding fit for the position. Bringing over 10 years of sales experience to our team, Megan’s background includes working directly with nonprofit organizations and focusing on their fundraising efforts. Her family owns a vineyard that hosts a yearly fundraiser supporting the Oregon Food Bank, and this year alone she increased contributions by over 200%!

Megan is most excited about excelling with First Nonprofit and assisting nonprofit organizations in her region save money on their state unemployment cost by offering clients more efficient and secure alternatives to covering their SUI taxes. She also mentioned that she is excited about the travel aspect of the job. “I love traveling, so this is a great position for me!” she noted.

If you are interested in receiving a free, no-obligation unemployment insurance quote for your nonprofit organization in the Western region, reach out to Megan directly at or by phone at (503) 403-3014. She will be happy to assist you in the process!

Megan is originally from the West coast, growing up in Portland, Oregon, and attending school at Washington State University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications. Visually Impaired Preschool Services has been a client of First Non-Profit since it was first offered as a benefit of VisionServe Alliance. We completed a thorough evaluation of cash savings to our agency before taking advantage of this wonderful benefit and it has been a very wise decision. Our experience with the processes from accounting to claims have been professional, expeditious and easy.

Luckily for us, our interactions regarding any issues with staffing has been very minimal! I can say that all other interactions with regards to billing, 941 reporting, etc. have been extremely pleasant, accommodating and easy to work with. Kim Ghanayem is always prompt, professional and friendly. Thank you so much!

The Ensight Skills Center has enjoyed working with First Nonprofit for several years. We are enrolled in their Unemployment Savings Program and although we have not required a lot of intervention, there have been a few times. I know others have dealt with the same problem of unemployment fraud over the last year and in our case, a call to First Nonprofit (they actually answer their phones) cleared up the issue. They also sent us a letter to send to all our employees telling them what they needed to do to prevent this in the future and protect themselves. What a relief! Over the years if I have questions or concerns, they are happy to listen, advise and help if they can. Another BIG advantage of using First Nonprofit is that all the money that is paid into the Unemployment Savings Program lives on my balance sheet as an asset. The money continues to be Ensight’s not the governments. First Nonprofit has certainly given me peace of mind.
